Bvlgari’s history can in many ways be seen as an ode to Roman history. As the maison’s home for 140 years, the city’s rich architecture, art, and symbolism have been the inspiration for Bvlgari’s most beloved outputs.
From its ancient roots to its modern era, Rome is a city with many chapters that spark the creative imagination. And much like Rome, Bvlgari’s style remains contemporary and of the moment while never losing the connection to its history.

Through its reverence for the past, the maison has created unique styles that continue to make an impression.
Rome’s most iconic structure, the jaw-dropping Colosseum—where gladiators once battled it out in the early days of the city—became the blueprint for the B.zero1 style, which debuted in 1999.
Even at the turn of the new millennium, the distinctly Roman design had a modern edge waiting to be rediscovered. The stacked, rounded design of the rings and pendants showcase the infinite possibilities of the classic structure and the Bvlgari logo, written in Roman epigraphy along the top of the ring, is reminiscent of ancient coins.
The B.zero1 collection is a bold approach to jewellery, designed for the wearer who wants to be seen and to make a statement. Transformed from a ring to an array of pendants, earrings, and other accessories, the design has won the hearts of many jewellery lovers.
Elements of the B.zero1 collection were pulled from another Bvlgari icon—the Tubogas collection, which was inspired by a more recent era of Roman history. Its repetitive lines mimic the pressurized gas tubes seen throughout the city in the 19th century. This industrial era utilitarianism was reimagined to become a subtly chic design that Bvlgari has made into bracelets, watches, necklaces, and more since the 1940s.
Tubogas is a technique that has been used in jewellery making for more than a century, but Bvlgari made it something truly special when it debuted the first-ever Serpenti piece in the style.
Over the decades, Bvlgari's Tubogas has become a distinct method all its own. Its light flexibility moves with the wearer, creating a comfortable fit that never appears out of place.
Both B.zero1 and Tubogas collections have been made anew again and again, with designers utilizing different metals—sometimes within the same piece—and rethinking the now-classic styles for tomorrow. It’s this approach that makes Bvlgari a Roman house in the truest sense.
Every piece from the maison’s iconic collections tells a story—about the wearer, the designer, and the long-standing history that preceded both. Old and new chapters and elements of Rome are always waiting to be rediscovered and reinterpreted. In honouring its roots, the maison creates a whole new world of beauty.
